My first trip was on Mother’s Day so it was a fantastic gift for Fruzsi (not). BUD airport is about 3 hours driving from home, my plane was in the evening, so I left home early afternoon. I worried about how I can say goodbye to Norman because this time is his sleeping time. Finally he woke up earlier so it was not a problem.
I flew to Istanbul first, where I met my colleague and continued the journey together. Next stop was Vietnam’s capital Hanoi, and after that my final destination: Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh City as they call it nowadays. We arrived to the hotel at night, the whole travel took more than 24 hours. There was no time to rest though, we went for a late dinner with my other colleagues who were already waiting for us in HCMC. The next two days I spent with work, our hosts were very kind, they didn’t miss to invite us for lunch and dinner:
Once we finished with work we checked out from our five stars hotel and headed to the city center, where we booked rooms in the backpacker’s area. As expected there was a contrast, but the small room was clean, had AC and the owner was super friendly. We planned to be tourists the next days after all. I spent one day visiting the city’s unmissable places: the War Remnants Museum (the room describing the effects of Agent Orange is shocking, don’t go there with kids), the Independence Palace, the Notre-Dame, the Central Post Office, and of course the Cu Chi tunnels. The last day I had a tour in the Mekong Delta with speedboat, paddle boat and horse car. It was good to leave the busy city and visit the quiet countryside. My flight back home was in the evening, and after one week I could see my family again.
Tips and things I learned:
– The weather is hot. Very. Before you travel, you certainly check the weather at your destination also as I did, but someone from Europe cannot imagine this heat.
– Use Vinasun Taxi or Grab, with the others you have a considerably bigger chance to get scammed.
– Have some cash, you cannot pay with card everywhere
– Be careful with the chicken hanging in the local restaurants which they are chopping randomly with a cleaver. I didn’t like it, it was like rubber and the meal was full with bone splinters.

Az utazasom napja Anyak napjara esett, mondhatom remek ajandek volt ez Fruzsinak. A repter tolunk 3 ora autoval igy kora delutan el kellett indulnom, hogy elérjem az esti gepet. Aggodtam, hogyan bucsuzom el Normantol, hiszen ez az o alvás ideje, de szerencsere felébredt idoben.
Isztambulban at kellett szallnom, itt találkoztam a kollegammal, s folytattuk utunkat Hanoi-ba, Vietnam fovarosaba. Innen repultunk tovabb Saigonba, ma Ho Chi Minh varoskent ismerhetunk. Keson erkeztunk meg a szallasra, a teljes ut tobb mint 24 ora volt. Sokat nem pihenhettunk, a helyi kollegak egy kesoi vacsorara invitaltak bennunket. A kovetkezo ket nap munkaval telt, s a kihagyhatatlan üzleti vacsorakkal, Azsiaban különös gondot fordítanak a vevok szorakoztatasara.
A munkánk végeztével, az 5* -os hotelt hátrahagyva a varoskopontba kerestunk szallast “backpack” hatizsakos szallashelyet foglaltunk. Szamitasunk beigazolodott, hatalmas a kontraszt a ket hely kozott, pici ablaktalan szobak, de tisztak es rendezettek, legkondicionaltak, s a tulajdonos nagyon barátságos volt. A hatralevo idoben leginkabb turistak voltunk, szamos kihagyhatatlan helyet megneztunk, ugymint:

-The Cu Chi tunnels: a haboru idejen a vietkongok altal hasznalt alagutrendszert mutatja be, a vietnamiak nagyon picik, ezert a nyugati turistaknak kulon epitettek egy szelesebb verziot, amely igy sem tul szeles, hihetetlen hogyan elhettek odalent a katonak ilyen szuk terben.
Utolso nap a Mekong folyo delta torkolatan csonakaztunk illetve lovaskocsival is utaztunk. Jo volt vegre egy kicsit tavol lenni a varos zajatol. Egzotikus gyumolcsoket fogyaszthattunk, ami szamukra nem egzotikus, valamint a nalunk nagyra ertekelt orchidea is kb ugy no mint itt a gaz.
A kirandulas utan, gyors csomagolas, majd irany a repter, a gep ismet este indult, alig vartam, hogy ujra lathassam a csaladom.
Nehany dolog&tanacs az ideutazonak:
– Az idojaras, meleg, nagyon meleg. Mindig ellenőrzöm indulas elott az úticélom idojarasat, de ez európai szemmel leírhatatlanul meleg es fulledt.
– Utazz Vinasun Taxival vagy használd a Grab-et, ami leginkabb az Uber-hez hasonlít.A tobbi taxi szolgalat kihasználja, hogy kulfoldi vagy s sokkal nagyobb haszonnal fuvaroz. A helyi kozlekedes egy nagy káosz. Mindenki megy mindenfele, szabályokat nem betartva, de ami a legnagyobb meglepetes, hogy működik es nincs baleset, s haladnak.
– Legyen nalad helyi valuta (vietnami dong) bar sok helyen USD-ral is lehet fizetni, viszont bankkartyaval nem igazán.
-Légy óvatos a helyi éttermekkel, nekem nem lesz a kedvencem, az etterem (garazskonyha) elejen fott csirkek vannak fellógatva, bizarr latvany, majd hatalmas barddal csapkodjak szet s keverik a salatadba, s persze próbálod kihalászni a csontszilánkot.
